Today I'd like to share with you a project that I created for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2014, the January tag. Don't you just think his is awesome? If you click on the link above it will take you straight to the January tag and his fantastic tutorial. I am a HUGE fan of his and have been participating in his 12 tags for several years now. All of which are archived on his blog.

Okay, back to the tag. In Tim's tag he used several items that I do not currently own (which my husband doesn't believe..lol)so I had to improvise.For my background on my canvas I started by covering my canvas with Pumice Stone Distress Stain and spritzed it with water to give it that speckled effect. Next, I made my own stencil by cutting out the Weathered Clock die using old transparencies. Using Black Soot Distress ink I inked my stencil is several places until I was satisfied with the look. Then using the Numbers Remnant Rubs, I chose the same ones that Tim used, and applied them along one side of my canvas. Note: This took some work, to get them to stick on the canvas but I found that if I heated the area where the rubs were to be applied with a heating tool, almost until the point that I thought that the canvas was going bust into flames, and apply very hard pressure to the rubs they did stick. Once the rubs were in place I used a sanding block to knock some of the newness off the rubs and give it that aged/grungy look. I did not have the metal sheets that Tim used so again I used what I had (well, what my husband use to have in his garage...shhh...don't tell him) metal furnace/duct work tape)to cut out the Weathered Clock die, saving the inside circle that gets cut out when you cut the die out. I ran that circle through my Vagabond die cutting machine using a cuttlebug embossing folder that has gears and chains on it (not sure of the name of the folder).  Next, I cut out the Vintage Alarm Clock mini movers and shapers die using the same metal tape. I inked both the Weathered Clock and Vintage Alarm clock with Black Soot Distress Paint and wiped it off with a cloth so that it got down into the grooves and gave it that aged look. Using Glossy Accent, which in my opinion is the best glue around, to adhere both of my clock and it's embossed center piece to my canvas. I then added some embellishments and chit chat stickers to finish the canvas off.

I'm really happy with the way this came out, here is what the finished canvas looks like:

So this is it, my first post on my new blog! I'd like to share with you a scrapbook page that I did for Challenge Me Monday over on the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge blog. You can find out all about their challenge by following the above link. This weeks challenge is called Winter Fun and you must use at least one Cricut die cut. So I decided to use the Winter Frolic Cartridge to cut out the phrase "Snowball Fight" which I cut at 3 1/2 inches and also to cut out the mitten board which was cut at 2 inches. I really like the contract between the blue and red. I also included a tag to journal on behind the large picture. Well that's it for now, stop back often, you just never know what you might find next.
